Getting traffic to your BANS site
Tagged Under : features
A couple of days after setting up the first BANS sites, I went back through and created custom headers and started to think about how I could get traffic to the sites. Since I started this on a whim, I didn’t have an SEM budget, so I started thinking about how I could get some visitors.
Here’s what I came up with:
1. A co-worked had sent an email full of Christmas deals a few days before, so I hit “respond to all” and sent out this message:
Like Ebay but get frustrated with all the clutter?
These sites break eBay into bite-size portions so you can find things easier.
DailyAuctionDeals.com
DailyCameraDeals.com
DailyFashionDeals.com
DailyShoeDeals.com
DailyElectronicsDeals.com
DailyMobileDeals.com
GolfDealsDaily.com
GameNationLive.com
She forwarded the link on to her friends and so I instantly got traffic and some interest.
2. Thanks again to Shoemoney who had guest poster Ian Fernando do a pretty complete writeup on how to build traffic. I had my wife start inputting a few items a day into Craigslist, basing the ads on what the most popular items on eBay pulse were showing.
3. I turned DailyAuctionDeals.com into a wordpress blog and started posting a few things about how we are trying to may eBay easier. Then I posted a little stub about it on Guy Kawasaki’s site called Truemors. Boo-Yay. More instant traffic.
DailyAuctionDeals.com stayed on the main page of Truemors for about 24 hours.

4. I’m a novice when it comes to Social networking, but I do have a Facebook account, so I went ahead and posted a couple of links up there. They are generating a modest amount of traffic.
Next we’ll be using US Free Ads and taking a deep dive into some traffic generating techniques mentioned on the BANS forums.
